Assistant Beach Lifeguard
This award is for those who wish to develop beach lifeguard skills and offers introductory training (this is NOT a lifeguard qualification). The award has been designed to develop the competencies of anyone who is assisting / supporting a Beach Lifeguard or as a first step towards becoming a Beach Lifeguard. The training and assessment is not site specific and reflects the general knowledge and skills required for open water safety and rescue. Learn from the best at the National Lifeguard Training Centre at Lusty Glaze. This course is backed by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS).
What are the entry requirements?
Candidates must be 12 years of age or over. A reasonable level of fitness is required for open water practice.
Who is this course aimed at?
People who enjoy the beach or sea for leisure and want to learn water safety skills or assist a qualified Beach Lifeguard.
What will I be doing on the course?
Open water rescue practices, resuscitation and first aid, and sessions covering physical fitness, self discipline, safety supervision and teamwork.
How do I study the course?
The course takes place at The Training Centre at Lusty Glaze Beach in
Newquay, Cornwall.
What can I do after the course?
You may decide to take our National Beach Lifeguard Qualification which is the stepping stone to careers as a beach lifeguard, surf coach and other instructor or water safety roles.

4 days.
Course cost:
£195 per person.
Provisional dates:
Call for 2010 dates. This course requires a minimum of six people to run.
